Updated covid-19 Policy

Since the beginning of the pandemic, we have prioritized the health and safety of our community in every decision we’ve made related to our COVID policies.  We will continue to do so.  We made the decision early on to require everyone to be vaccinated in order to enter the synagogue.

Consistent with the CDC‘s guidelines, we are continuing our mask policy at the synagogue: Outside of worship services, congregants may choose to mask at any time based on each person’s health situation and comfort level.  We have decided to keep masks mandatory for worship services for the time being because it is important to us that anyone who wants to come to Oheb Shalom to pray will not hesitate to do so.

Other CDC guidelines that we would urge our members to follow include:

-- Someone who has tested positive for COVID should quarantine for 5 days and then wear a well-fitting mask for another 5 days -- inside or outside -- as long as his/her symptoms are improving.
-- Someone who has close contact with someone with COVID should wear a mask for 10 days, with a test on day 5.
-- All congregants should consider prioritizing any booster for which they are eligible.

As we transition back to normalcy, we will periodically re-evaluate our policies. The ROC will continue to monitor Essex County’s health situation, and our guidance could be updated at any point.

Hope to see you at 170 Scotland Road soon.  In the meantime, please call Paul Schechner (973.713.4389) or e-mail at schechner@aol.com with any questions or comments.
