Thanksgiving Volunteer Opportunities 2018

Category: Social Action

We have FOUR ways to help this Thanksgiving. Please consider donating some of your time to help those in our area who are struggling.

1. OHEB KITCHEN, 11/18: Help us bake and cook items that will be used to feed the residents of Isiah House and served as part of Christine's Kitchen free hot lunch program on Thanksgiving. Items to be made include but are not limited to; apple pies, pumpkin pies, pumpkin bread, green bean casserole, etc.

2. THANKSGIVING DAY, 11/22: Make and pack brown bag lunches for 300 people in need, distributed through Project Kind.

At Oheb Shalom from 10:00 am - 11:30 am. Any age; Max of 15 volunteers

3. THANKSGIVING DAY, 11/22: Christine's Kitchen is a free hot lunch program served weekly in the Guild Hall located in the lower part of the Holy Trinity Parish House.  The number of guests served each week ranges from 75-100. Please join us as we help with food prep, set up, serving, clean up and just trying to make the Holiday something special for those less fortunate.

There will be 2 shifts (9:30 - 11:45 / 11:45 - 2:00), 10 people per shift. There is no age limit, but children must be supervised by their parents.

4. THANKSGIVING DAY, 11/22: Isaiah House provides shelter, nourishment, and support to Essex County's more fragile families. Unlike other similar programs, Isaiah House works works diligently to ensure that the family unit remains intact. That is, both a mom and dad, husband and wife, just mom or dad as heads of household or whatever the family make up, they can remain together with their children at Isaiah House rather than having to separate and stay in multiple places.

There will be 2 shifts (11:00 - 12:30  / 12:30 - 3:00), 4 people per shift. Volunteers will help in the kitchen, and are limited to parents and their teen age children.
