Oheb Shalom celebrates Jewish holidays throughout the year, combining traditional and contemporary approaches. Our congregation gathers in the synagogue and the homes of members to enjoy programs and share meals.

TISHA B'AV 5777 / 2017

Monday, July 31 @ Oheb Shalom

(Observed together with Congregation Beth El and Kol Rina)

  • 8:00 pm - Screening and discussion of a short film, “The Little Dictator.” Yossi Kleinmann, a dull history professor and expert on the political leaders of totalitarian regimes, feels unappreciated both by his students and his domineering wife. One weekend, at the 90th birthday party of his wife’s grandmother, a Holocaust survivor, Yossi finds himself in a surreal situation that forces him to face up to himself and his family. The film urges us to consider the meaning of the Holocaust and how we and Israelis might relate to it.
  • 8:45 pm - Reading of Eicha (Book of Lamentations)

Tuesday, August 1 @ Oheb Shalom

  • 7:45 am - Shacharit (Tallit and Tefilin are not worn)
  • 1:45 pm - Mincha @ Congregation Beth El (Tallit and Tefilin are worn)
