OHEB Kadima

Events include social activities and community service programs, such as bowling, volunteering at the local food pantry, and movie nights. OHEB USY

Oheb USY is a program designed to engage and inspire teens during a formative time in their Jewish lives. The goal of Oheb USY is to give teens an opportunity to socialize, study and partake in social action with their peers in a safe and supportive Jewish community.

The Oheb USY program is built on three components:

  1. Social Opportunities — Programs are designed to give teens an opportunity to get to know other Jewish teens and to solidify existing friendships with other teens in the community. Throughout the year, specific programs are developed with the goal of providing participants with a safe and inviting space to have fun! Ultimately, Oheb USY is a special community built just for teens!
  2. Social Action Opportunities — Throughout the course of the academic year, there will be many opportunities for teens to give back to the community. Through social action events such as volunteering at the local food pantry, teens will learn about the values of tikkun olam (repairing the world) and tzedakah (charity). For all social action events, participants will receive a letter stating the number of community service hours completed.
  3. Jewish Learning Opportunities — Over the course of the year, teens will be able to participate in a number of learning modules. Each module will last three or four sessions and will have a particular focus. Topics for modules include current events, Israel, Jewish text and law, etc. Each learning session will begin with dinner and an opening discussion. Learning sessions are on Wednesday evenings from 6:15pm-8:00pm. Each learning module is taught by a member of our community. These educators include our congregational Rabbis, education directors, congregants and more!

Our USY program is all inclusive. Teens who wish to enroll in our USY program will be able to attend all of the events on the calendar. This includes social events, social action events and learning sessions.
