In March and April, as we mark our people’s Exodus from Egypt, we will learn about a very personal exodus of our featured speaker, noted Jewish and transgender activist, ordained rabbi, writer, and YouTuber, Ms. Abby Chava Stein.

BECOMING EVE: Abby Chava Stein
Abby Chava Stein, 28-year-old author of the memoir Becoming Eve, and a leading activist for Jewish and transgender rights, will discuss her Hasidic upbringing as a “prince” in a rabbinic family directly descended from the Ba’al Shem Tov and her questioning of both her strict Haredi education and the (male) gender she was assigned. She will also focus on two texts that supported her in her journey: one by the medieval Spanish Jewish biblical commentator Gersonides, and one by the 17th century kabbalist, Rabbi Chaim Vital.
