What is a senior citizen?
A dictionary might say a person of advanced years. Someone else might say a golden ager, an old timer, a retiree, but I often prefer to use the term "seasoned citizen". Those people who have seen enormous changes in our world, who have had careers of interest, varied experiences are what makes those who participate in Simcha Seniors programs truly a seasoned citizen.
The goal of Simcha Seniors is to enrich the lives of all who chose to join us for our bi monthly meetings. We usually offer two events each month: one that starts at 12 noon with a freshly prepared lunch and has a speaker or entertainer, and one that starts at 1 pm with coffee and cake, followed by a screening of film.
Our events include everything from lectures, films, live entertainment, and occasional trips.
A small group of dedicated volunteers work on a Programming Committee and prepare our delicious lunch once a month. Due to having to plan food quantities, a response is required to attend the bi monthly events. The contact person for reservations is Esther Bearg and she can be reached at 973-740-9891.
We charge a modest fee for each event, to cover programming and food costs. Membership to Simcha Seniors is an option for those who enjoy coming to many of our events. It is $36 per year (July-June) and allows Simcha Seniors Members to come to all events at reduced costs.
If you are interested in membership or have any questions about our program, feel free to contact me.
